The
history about Maa Jhandewali Temple, New
Delhi is as below:
The
name Jhandewali was given during Shah
Jahan's reign, due to the prayer flags
or 'Jhandas' being offered. There is a
history attached to this idol. It is believed
that Badri Bhagat, one of the great devotee
of Maa, dreamed of her and she told him
about this idol. Thereafter the temple
was constructed at the same place. Aadi
Shakti Jhandewali Maa is the goddess Durga
incarnate. She represents the power of
the Supreme Being that preserves moral
order and righteousness in the creation.
She wears red, holds multiple weapons
and rides Her vahana/vehicle - the tiger,
all symbolizing her tremendous and unlimited
power which she uses to protect virtue
and destroy evil. The temple is so beautiful
n Maa is simply so cute n kind.
I've
uploaded a Video on my visit to Maa Jhandewali,
